Abstract:
This year, ÚFAL MFF UK commemorates the 100th anniversary of the birth of prof. PhDr. Petr Sgall, DrSc. (May 27, 1926 - May 28, 2019), one of the most prominent figures in Czech linguistics and the founder of the field of computational linguistics in Prague.
To honor this milestone, we dedicate this seminar lecture to his legacy - a series he helped establish several decades ago. The seminar will feature researchers from the Institute of Formal and Applied Linguistics, professor Sgall's home department at MFF UK. The seminar features the following lectures:

  • Marie Mikulová: From Form to Meaning and Beyond
  •
  • Daniel Zeman: The More Languages You Study, the More of a Linguist You Are
  •
  • Jindřich Libovický: We Don't Program Grammars, We Decode Them: Linguistics and LLMs
The seminar is in Czech.
